“I Menhirs” is a new tourist complex in Castiadas, close to the most beautiful and known beaches in the Villasimius and Costa Rei area. The restaurant and the rooms are surrounded by the peaks of the “Sette fratelli” mount, within a beautiful and peaceful natural landscape.
The outer walls of the building are covered with local stone. There are big megaliths scattered all around the area of the complex: they are replications of the ancient and impressive Menhirs.
In our hotel you’ll experience an enchanting holiday ...............
Menhirs: (from Breton language “men” and “hir”, meaning “long stone”) they are megalith, usually dating back to prehistory (Neolithic Age, Prehistoric Era). They could reach over 20 mt. height, stood isolated or in groups, with different sizes. Their shapes were usually (not always) squared, sometimes tapering on top. They were erected throughout different periods of the Prehistoric era and witness the megalithic culture spread all over Europe and beyond. Some experts conjecture that these statues were located in order to give orientation on the phases of the moon. Others believe they had a spiritual meaning. Some others suppose they symbolize the male divinity and fertility.
